Had a meeting today with our in house AI team to plan for the future….
How will design agencies change as a result of ai?
"AI will transform design agencies by automating routine tasks and accelerating ideation, freeing creatives to focus on strategy and innovation. The most successful agencies will leverage AI as a collaborative tool—enhancing creativity with data-driven insights while maintaining human-centric storytelling."
Will you not be able to create strategies and innovation?
AI can generate strategies and spark innovation, but human creativity and judgment remain essential to refine ideas and craft emotionally resonant brand experiences. The future belongs to those who harness AI as a collaborator—not a replacement—for visionary thinking.
But in 5 years when ai evolves will design agencies still exist and in what form?
In 5 Years, Design Agencies will still thrive but will look radically different:
Form: Smaller, leaner teams of "AI-conductor" creatives who curate AI-generated ideas (90% of concepts will be AI-born, but the 10% human-refined ones will win). Physical/digital hybrid studios will dominate.
Value Shift: Agencies will sell strategic creativity (not labor) — think "AI-powered creative direction" and culturally attuned edits that algorithms miss.
Example: Your future retail pitch might involve:
- AI simulates 100 store layouts by morning
- Human team picks the 3 with strongest emotional pull
- Augmented reality walkthroughs sell the vision
Survivors Will:
- Master AI as a co-creator
- Double down on human skills (taste, humor, cultural IQ)
- Profit from speed + premium curation
The TLDR: Agencies won’t die—they’ll become the "editors" of AI’s raw ideas. Seventy Two’s already working this way.
